Circe

No boat image available

Circe was designed by David Boyd for the famous Clyde yachtsman Mr J Herbert Thom, Hunter’s Quay. Circe won the Seawanhaka Cup in the USA in 1938, and successfully defended the cup on the Clyde in 1939, against the Norwegian yacht Noreg III. This was the most successful racing yacht designed by David Boyd and built at Robertson’s yard. After the war she was owned by Capt George E T Eyston and based at Southampton. Owned by Ernest J Coles in 1950 and based at Hamble. Circe raced for Russia in the 1952 Summer Olympics while owned by the Spartak Yacht Club in Tallinn, Estonia. According to the yacht club, Circe was destroyed in 1956 or 1957.
