Berta

Berta was built in Sweden in 1988. She was designed by Peter Norlin, one of the most influential designers of modern Six Metres, and described by Ian Howlett as “a true guardian of the spirit of the Six Metre rule”.

She was based in Sweden for a long time but made her debut on the international racing scene at the 1988 European Championships held in Falmouth, UK, where she came 6th out of 28 boats.

She has raced regularly over the years, appearing at numerous World and European Championships since the 1980s.

Berta came in 4th place in the Open Division of two European Championships: 2004 in Porto Rotondo, Italy; and 2012 in Nynäshamn, Sweden. She then finished in 5th place in the Open Division at the 2013 World Championships in Flensburg, Germany.

Having had the same owner for 30 years, she was finally sold to new owners in Spain in 2018 where she now sails with the Six Metre fleet based in Sanxenxo in Galicia.
