British American Cup, match two, fourth series, 1953

The British American Cup is a team sport, Britain and America each entering four yachts. The individual points for each team are combined for each race and accumulate accross the match. The Cup was raced by International Six Metre class yachts from its inaugural competition in 1921 until 1955. The competition was revived in 1974 though not for six metre yachts.

It was permitted to have one professional among the crew. The Titia crew included professional sailor G Parker; the crew of Marylette included B Avery.

The fourth series consisted of three matches: 1951, 1953 and 1955.

The point system was changed in 1953 so that a first place would score 11 points, second 10 points and so on down to 4 points for 8th place.

America won the 1953 match 4-0 and led the series 2-0.
