“At the Tiller” by Iain Rutherford was first published by Blackie & Son Ltd in 1946. It tells the tale of Rutherford’s sailing experiences before and during the Second World War.
In 1933 Rutherford bought Sheila (then renamed Suilven) and went on to take her on many adventures, including across the North Sea to Norway and St Kilda and to north west Ireland. These adventures are documented in the book.
