The original caption reads: “H.M.L., C.A.B. [Christopher Boardman], L. [Laurent] Giles, Peter [Scott], Russell [Harmer], Charlie Leaf & Stewart [Morris]” Burnham [Week], 1936.
Her crew were all very successful sailors: Laurent Giles was a celebrated naval architect; Peter Scott had recently won a bronze medal in the Olympic Monotypes at the 1936 Berlin Olympics; Russell Harmer had recently won a gold medal in Lalage crewing with Christopher Boardman and Stewart Morris was a reserve for the Olympic sailing team (and later went on to win the 1948 Olympic gold in the Swallow class). We do not have any information on the identity of H.M.L. or Charlie Leaf.
