Lucie

Lucie was designed in 1931 by Clinton H. Crane and built by Nevins for Briggs Cunningham, the Americas Cup skipper. She came to the Solent as one of the US team for the British-American Cup races which the US won in four straight races.

She was named after Briggs Cunningham’s wife, Lucie Bedford Cunningham.

She has been totally restored and brought up to date by Matt Brooks.

In competition, at World Championships she finished 6th (out of 45) at the 2011 Classic Worlds in Helsinki. She then came 5th in the 2013 World Championships at Flensburg, Germany and in 3rd at the 2015 Worlds in France.

Lucie also finished in 5th place at the 2012 Europeans at Nynashamn, winning the August Ringvold Cup, and in 5th place in the 2016 European Championship in Brunnen, Switzerland.
