Marletta

Marletta was was designed by David Boyd and was one of three yachts (one of two Sixes – Marylette being the other) built by Alexander Robertson & Sons for Lt Col J E Harrison, who lived at Marwell Hall in Hampshire in the UK from 1932.

Marletta was built for the sailing events in the Olympics held at Torbay in 1948, but she was not selected to race.

She was owned by a resident of Cowes in 1960 and sold to a resident of Marseilles in 1965. She then went to Versoix in Switzerland in 1969 and her name was changed to Clapotis III. In 1973, she was owned in Rolle in Switzerland and re-named Caprice.

In 1975, she was owned in Geneva, Switzerland, and re-named Jabado. Here she received a complete remodeling of her hull in the Egger boatyard (Lake of Neuchâtel). In 1981 the boat was sold again, but stayed on Lake Geneva and was re-named Duclop II.

In 1992, she was sold once more and her name was changed to Belanea.

In 2016, the boat was returned to her original name Marletta, and in 2020 was restored by Tom Owen in Fowey in the UK.
